He also works closely with his patients' general dentists to ensure that his patients receive the most comprehensive care possible.

A Strong Foundation in Dental Education
Dr. Gelber, a native of New York, completed his undergraduate education at the University of Rochester and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from New York University College of Dentistry. After graduating, he served in a rotating dental internship in the United States Air Force. Dr. Gelber then completed his specialized training in periodontics at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. In 1976, he began practicing in Wethersfield, and has been proud to serve the community ever since.
Continuing Education is important for any dental professional as a way to stay current on the latest treatments and techniques. By incorporating new treatments and technologies into his practice, Dr. Gelber has since become a leader in the periodontal community. He was one of the first periodontists in the Northeast to offer dental implant placement and has accrued over 25 years of experience in this growing field. Dr. Gelber's long standing practice has made him a valuable staple of the Wethersfield community and he remains the most experienced periodontist in his area.

He has also held teaching positions at both the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and Mount Sinai Hospital. He continues to teach and lecture for the Hartford Hospital Residency Program and serves as mentor for the Wethersfield Dental Hygienist Study Club. Additionally, Dr. Gelber has served as a dental consultant for the State Of Connecticut Department of Health and was a CIGNA insurance periodontal consultant for many years.
Committed to his family and the Community
Dr. Gelber and his wife Rona have two grown sons & three wonderful grandchildren. When he is away from his practice, Dr. Gelber enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid UCONN Huskies fan. He is committed to educating the community though his offering of seminars & study groups to area dentists & hygienists. He also volunteers for the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Dental Care Day and the Oral Cancer Foundation.
